W roli Neda Landa,wytatuowanego marynarza i harpunnika młody Kirk Douglas. O ile jakość filmu niestety nie pozwoliła mi dojrzeć co tam Land/Douglas ma na ramieniu (w książce także nie ma o tym słowa), o tyle od kilku tygodni nucę sobie wersy z jedynej piosenki w tym filmie:
"Opowiem wam historie solą morską przesycone i szkwałem,
historie o morskich stworach i dziewczynach które kochałem,
w noce jak ta, w świetle księżyca skąpanych,
