Zamysłem fotografa było ukazanie Mario i Ivonne w realacji nie tylko z wzorami które sami noszą, ale także niecielesnym morzem markeskiej symboliki. These photographs are two in a series of 10 portraits taken by Garry Orriss over a six year period in which Mario and Yvonne have been tattooed in relation to a Garry Orriss hand-drawn and painted background. The background also incorporates traditional Marquesas tattoo inks. The artists original intention was to create a series in which both Mario and Yvonne found themselves sinking not only into their own body designs but also into a sea of Marquesan symbolism. The background has continuously evolved and has gone through many changes and is in constant step with Mario and Yvonne's tattoo designs.
