Przez te wszystkie lata sfotografowałem setki rodzin, w tym aktorów Kabuki, punków, muzyków, policjantów, mnichów buddyjskich i aktorek porno. Jedna rzecz jaka łączy ich wszystkich to to że wszyscy są rodzicami i dziećmi."
Na zdjęciu powyżej widzicie Mitsuaki Ohwadę (tatuatora) i Akie Ohwadę (panią domu), rodziców Keiko Ohwady (uczennica podstawówki). Bruce: “Odwiedziwszy po raz pierwszy publiczną łaźnię, Keiko, której matka i ojciec są wytatuowani, przeżyła szok. Dorastając wśród wytatuowanych osób, była przekonana że każdy dorosły człowiek musi mieć jakiś tatuaż."

"Oyako means parents and children in Japanese and it is the title of a series I’ve been photographing since 1982. Over the years, I have taken of hundreds of parents and children running the gamete of Japanese society, including Kabuki actors, punk musicians, policemen, Buddhist monks, and porno actresses. The one thing that all of them have in common is that they are real life parents and children".
On the pic above you might see Mitsuaki Ohwada (tattooist) and Akie Ohwada (housewife) parents of Keiko Ohwada (elementary school student). Bruce: “Her parents both have tattoos and their daughter got a hugh shock when she entered a sentō, a public bath, for the first time. Until that event it was in her mind that all the adults must have tattoos. Everybody around the house had some and it was a very natural thing for her.”
